YOUTH FILM&PHOTO WORKSHOPS in Ljubljana (SLO) – “Ljubljana, my city”

In September and October 2016 in frame of our international film event Youth Film Festival 3LITTLEWOLVES in Ljubljana (SLO), in cooperation with APIS Institute in Ljubljana, I was in charge (as educator) of the organization of participatory photography and video workshops Ljubljana, my city.

We used photo and video to explore how 12 to 14-year-old youth perceive the city they live in.

In the end of this film and photo project in November 2016 we prepared a photo exhibition in Trubar Literature House in the centre of Ljubljana, presented a printed photo booklet and postcards made during this project. Each participant chose two to three pictures for the exhibition. The workshops were supported by Municipality of Ljubljana, culture space Trubarjeva hiša literature in Ljubljana, Primary school Valentin Vodnik in Ljubljana, Canon (SLO) and Sony (SLO).

Short films made by young participants of our film and photo works are available for the pre-view here>>>

ABOUT

An old Hindu story tells of six blind men who meet an elephant for the first time. Each of them encounters a different part of the elephant and consequently each describes the elephant in very different terms. The blind men who feels the the squirming trunk of the animal believes the elephant is like a snake, the man who grabs the smooth tusk believes it is more like a spear, the one who grabs its swinging tail believes it is similar to rope, and so on. Limited by their narrow encounter with the elephant, none of the men is able to understand what an elephant is really like. Documentary FOURDROPSOFADAY is meeting with some parts of Europe.

Čaršija

SYNOPSIS

How are we to distinguish the towns on Balkan peninsula which were under the Habsburg monarchy from the ones which were under the Ottoman emporium? The have čaršija - an old merchant center, a legacy from the times of the Ottomans. Through the times in has been creating and shaping the atmosphere of towns and lifestyles of its inhabitants. Skopje, the capital of Republic of Macedonia, has such čaršija, which managed to preserve itself through many historical changes as well as the last earthquake in 1963. Due to recent political situation and Albanian - Macedonian conflicts, čaršija is nowadays mostly avoided by Macedonians. This short documentary is a portrait of čaršija and craftsmen who have workshops there. At the same time it tries to reveal the reasons why čaršija has been slowly loosing its role and position in the life of Skopje's inhabitants...
